Technical Assistant position in pediatric neurooncology research (m/f/d)

About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Assistant to join our pediatric neuro-oncology research team. In this pivotal role, you will not only perform advanced experimental work but also coordinate laboratory activities, oversee workflow among other technical assistants, and contribute to lab management and organization. Your efforts will directly support our mission to develop innovative models and therapeutic strategies for pediatric brain tumors.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordination
- Organize and coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations together with the scientific leads.
- Oversee ordering processes, inventory, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Experimental Work
- Establish and maintain pediatric brain tumor models, including patient-derived cultures and preclinical drug testing.
- Conduct cell culture experiments with various readouts (e.g., proliferation, viability, drug screening, signaling pathway analysis, imaging).
- Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR, cloning, protein analysis via Western blot, immunoprecipitation).
- Work with BSL-2 materials, including viral vector production and transduction.
- Lab Management
- Implement and maintain SOPs to ensure high-quality and reproducible research.
- Training of new students/employees on routine lab methods.
- Organize shared laboratory services and coordinate common lab-related tasks among team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Completed training as a Technical Assistant, Biological Laboratory Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician or comparable qualification, professional training/ expierence in biology is preferred.
- Fluent English skills are required.
- Experience in cell culture and molecular biology; experience with animal experiments is an advantage.
- Familiarity with academic research or industry laboratory workflows.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with teaching students is a plus.
- Excellent team spirit, proactive communication, and leadership qualities.
- Confident use of MS Office and basic knowledge of data handling for laboratory documentation.
- Independent, precise, and reliable work style.
