JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Make key contributions to the ERC Starting Grant funded project “PerturbPhos” (Grant agreement ID: 101222284), developing ultra-sensitive mass spectrometry (MS)-based phosphoproteomics technologies to study how drugs affect a patient's tumor proteome
  • Build and optimize a scalable phosphoproteomics platform tailored to high-dimensional perturbation experiments of primary cells
  • Analyze large-scale (phospho)proteomics datasets using R or Python-based computational tools to integrate prior knowledge and characterize drug-induced phosphorylation changes
  • Work and communicate efficiently across inter-professional teams
  • Disseminate project results through presentations and manuscripts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • PhD in (bio)chemistry, molecular biology, systems biology, or a related field
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, ideally with hands-on experience in low-input phosphoproteomics
  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and sample preparation for MS analysis
  • Ability to independently develop and troubleshoot MS-based proteomics workflows
  • Prior experience with clinical patient material and/or characterizing small molecule drugs is desired
  • Proficiency in R or Python for analyzing omics datasets, including statistical analysis and integration of multiple datatypes
  • Strong track record of scientific excellence (e.g., high-quality first-author publications), rigorous research practice, and commitment to research integrity
  • Strong ability work and communicate effectively in interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, biologists, bioinformaticians)
  • Strong scientific writing and presentation skills in English.
